“To QB…or not to QB?” by Dr. Gerard Leavenworth
Why do Mike and Jeff always pick on me?
It’s no secret that I’ve been in a terrible mood all day. But it’s not just the fact that the Eagles lost to a team that didn’t even make the playoffs last year. It’s the QB situation…and unless Andy Reid figures it out, we’re in for a long season.
I’m the type of gyno who doesn’t believe in the quarterback-by-committee theory. It doesn’t work in the NFL, and it doesn’t work in the hospital. A few years ago, our staff supervisor thought it would be a good idea to “mix-it-up” a bit. I would start a pregnancy, we’d bring in the kid, Devin Dolb, when the the uterus was fully dilated, and when the head popped out, sometimes a third doctor would even finish the job.
It was confusing at best, and dangerous at worst. And it’s exactly the same on the gridiron. Like a good gynecolgist, a QB has to be in complete control, with the confidence that his team is fully behind him. It’s no secret that I’m no fan of Kevin Kolb – no matter how many yards he throws for, he always finds a way to lose — but it’s not helping matters that he has no job security, with a former convict and an old man vying for snaps behind him.
It’s time for the fat walrus to make a decision and stick to it. He never seems to have a problem deciding when it’s chicken vs. ribs…
