“Two Scoops on the Side” by Dr. Gerard Leavenworth

The perfect complement.
This Thanksgiving, I refused to taste my pecan pie before I had two scoops of vanilla ice cream by its side. Why must I have vanilla ice cream to enjoy the pie? It’s simple – the vanilla bean allows the pecan flavor to flourish.
Whether it’s pecan pie needing ice cream, or a star quarterback needing his running back, people often underestimate the importance of supporting roles . In the last couple of weeks, McNabb has had little to no support. And the result has been dismal. But on Thursday, Brian Westbrook came to the rescue, with his best game in years, running for over 100 yards and scoring four touchdowns. Finally, #5 was able to play to his full potential, and lead the Eagles to a big victory.
I remember when I had a slump in 2004. My head nurse, Eileen, missed the entire first half of the season with an injury, and I was forced to change my game. The contractions, the blood levels, the nervous husbands – I was trying to do too much. But when her knee finally healed, Eileen came to play. She was working the O.R. like you wouldn’t believe, and we were back to delivering babies like Domino’s. Done in 30 minutes or it’s free.
If Westbrook continues to show up, we may still be playing football this January . And that’s how I like to start my new year.
