All You Need is Grub
Head Coaches set a standard with how they present themselves, and they’re expected to look the part. You can’t just throw on the clipboard/headset combo and expect to command respect — you gotta have some added style. In the NBA, Pat Riley’s trend-setting hairstyle inspired the likes of Gordon Gecko and Chase Utley, and even Joe Torre’s jowls look presentable behind a pair of slick shades.
So why is College Football chock-full of schlubby head coaches? For every Urban Meyer or Jim Tressel — who rocks a sweater vest like no other — there’s a Charlie Weis or Mark Mangino, guys who more closely resemble a plumber wearing a tracksuit.
