The MLB Twilight Zone: Girardi ain’t no nigga
It’s not every night that you restore the Yankees to their former glory, but Joe Girardi’s evening was only getting started after he led the Bronx Bombers to their 27th world championship.
According to LoHud.com, as Girardi was driving home from the Bronx, he stopped his car at a blind curve, ran across several lanes of traffic, and assisted an injured motorist who had just crashed her car into a wall.
Westchester County police officer Kathleen Cristiano, who was among the first to arrive at the scene of the accident, was very surprised to see the Yankees manager: “The guy wins the World Series, what does he do? He stops to help.…It was totally surreal.…You don’t expect him standing by a car accident trying to help.”
Surreal? Absolutely. Unexpected? Sure. But hold on just a second — aren’t you supposed to stop to help someone in need of assitance when no one else is around? It doesn’t matter if you’re a doctor, a mechanic, or a World Series champ…isn’t it your duty as a decent human being?
To quote the brilliant 20th century philosopher, Chris Rock: “A nigga will brag about some shit a normal man just does. A nigga will say some shit like, ‘I take care of my kids.’ You’re supposed to, you dumb motherfucker!”
So what did we learn last night? The Yankees are world champs, and Joe Girardi is unequivically not a nigga.
