MLB Twighlight Zone: Would you fight a shirtless VP?
Time for yet another trip into the bizarre, the zany, the wacky, the strange…the MLB Twighlight Zone.
We’ve all had that high school coach who liked to raise his voice a bit too often. And we’ve certainly seen emotions run high when coaches and general managers speak to the press. But according to the New York Daily News, something totally out of the ordinary happened a few weeks ago in the Binghamton Mets’ clubhouse, the team’s Double-A affiliate.
Evidently, Mets VP Tony Bernazard challenged the members of the Double-A Binghamton Mets to a fight after allegedly learning some members had been drinking underage. But not only that, he did it with his shirt off. As the VP of player development, we have to assume that Tony B was trying to motivate, perhaps develop, the young talent on the team. But comparing a young player to “a slang term associated with a woman’s anatomy” while you parade around the room displaying your bare pectorals…that’s not something that any organization can be proud of, with the exception of the WWE.
So as the Mets try to pick up the pieces of yet another broken season (and yes, we’re referring to Carlos Beltran’s knee), add this to the list of things that Omar Minaya will deal with. What’s next, an iron cage death-match between Omar and Jerry Manuel to see which one gets fired first?

This sounds more like an argument over a case of PBR at a NASCAR race…ripping shirts off, using slurs, etc.
What could be more motivating than shirtless management?
