“A Midsummer Night’s Trade” by Norm Brooks

Stop texting your daughter and start responding to my trade offers.
Nate McClouth for Yovani Gallardo. A pretty simple trade…or so I thought. Last week I made this offer to my (former) friend Greg. But for some reason, I’ve yet to get a response.
Some say that patience is a virtue, but in this case, it’s a waste of time. Is Greg doing a background check on Nate McClouth? Interviewing Nate’s high school coach to see if he’s up for the challenge?
I had to do unthinkable things in a sweaty public bathroom to scrape together the cash to get on the Internet and make this offer. And all the while, Greg was sitting in his air-conditioned house, listening to his blackberry buzz away. So for all you fantasy managers out there who think that “sleeping on it” is the way to go, take a moment to think about those of us who have to “sleep on it” on the street. Point, click, and move on.
